Objectives: 

We will be able to...

1. Identify the components of a successful Diagnostic Analysis Essay.
2. Outline a sample Diagnostic Analysis paragraph based on its PIE structure.
3. Create or revise the outline for their own Diagnostic Analysis Essay incorporating all required components and PIE structure.

Introduction
Briefly review the requirements and expectations for the Diagnostic Analysis Essay assignment. 

There are some guidelines you can follow in organizing your essays and incorporating PIE structure. 

You will use these guidelines to create an outline for their Diagnostic Analysis Essay.

Diagnostic Analysis Outline Guide
Using the Diagnostic Analysis Outline Guide, let's discuss what components you should include in the introduction, the body paragraphs, and the conclusion of the essay.  

Review the outline guide, paying particular attention to the PIE structure in the body paragraphs.

You can talk about both "good" or "bad" examples in your original version of diagnostic essay.

Sample Paragraph Outlining Exercise
Let's look at the Diagnostic Sample Paragraph and highlight the paragraph according to its PIE structure. There will be some differences in I-E structure between the ‘good’ example given, and the ‘bad’ example given.

Creating an Outline
Use the Diagnostic Outline Template and create an outline for the Diagnostic Analysis Essay.
Name the file "Diagnostic_Outline_YOURNAME" and save it into the dropbox folder.
