Objectives:

1. Explain the similarities and differences between the thesis statement from the diagnostic analysis with the thesis statement for the GRP/IRP.
2. Identify the dual purpose of the GRP/IRP.
3. Compose a thesis statement for the GRP.

[10 minutes] Class Comparison Discussion

• Review the fundamental points from earlier lesson on thesis statements.
• What are the similarities and differences
  between the thesis statement for the diagnostic revision and
  what you might need to write for the GRP/IRP?

[5 min] Create a Thesis Statement

Online Timer 

For 5 minutes, individually writes down a possible thesis statement for the GRP on the scrap piece of paper.  

[10 minutes] Compare Thesis Statements

Pair/Group Randomizer  

Compare what you have written for their thesis statement. After a few minutes, we will talk about general patterns or difficulties.

[20 minutes]Thesis Building Activity

In groups, let's fill out Thesis Building Part 1. 
Once you have the answers for Part1, let's open up Thesis Building Part 2&3 on the computer. 1. You must arrange the house.2. Use the answers from Part 1 to make a new thesis statement.
    (Hint given: follow the order of the house from top to bottom).

[5 min] Wrap-up
We will come to a final decision of what to use for the GRP Thesis Statement.
